Missions & Outreach

I tell you the truth, whatever you did
for one of the least of these brothers of mine,
you did for me.
Matthew 25:40

Missions Outreach

At GUMC, we have several ways to reach out to those in need within our congregation and in the community.
For a complete list of the ministries of our church, you may receive a copy of our Ministry Opportunities guidebook. Below is a sample of just a few programs:

Mission Trips:
Both our youth and adults have been involved in mission trips that serve people in all areas, from the local community to as far away as Honduras. We also support missionaries in other countries.

Local missions:
Our Outreach group works with many local ministries such as Blessing House, Welcome Nursing Home, and Love, Inc. to meet the needs of those in Lorain County. Outreach meets regularly to develop new missions.

Comforters:
A group meets weekly to knit and crochet prayer shawls. We also make comforters and lap robes. We provide comforters to newly baptized babies. Lap robes are given to nursing home patients and others who need them. Prayer shawls are available to cancer patients, the chronically ill or anyone in need of comfort. You may contact the church office to request a prayer shawl or comforter.

Extravagant Generosity:
Our church provides financial support to many people and organizations in time of need. We regularly support Smile Train, a program to help children born with cleft palates; Compassion International adopt a child program, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) in its efforts to deal with natural disasters and other crisis around the world and many other organizations, both local and national.

You will be enriched in every way for your great generosity.
